Adventures That Evan and I Have Under Taken in 2000
World's of Fun
Raver day and then my 2D design studio class brought Evan and I to World's of Fun. It was fun!!! Even the rain was fun. I was depressed about it then; I had an assignment to do and it required pictures of the roller coasters, but it was so rainy it was practically impossible to take 'em. I wanted to get that done because, it is fairly expensive to go to WOF, it was impossible to go back since it was the last day for WOF to be open, and plus, it was the rest of our money. Yet, I look back on it and it was fun to be with Evan, sloshing around the park in soaking wet clothing after riding the Centrifuge (our first ride) and watching the Halloween Special Magic Show (the first show out of many since it was raining), riding the Mamba as we let out our joys of fun from being just rained on, and riding on the carousel alone, just before closing, as we soaked in the day... literally and figuratively. Nonetheless, Raver Day is what brought us to WOF first. Evan and I got to get with all the other KC Ravers on e-groups and matched screenames to faces. Check out the photos from Raver Day:
November 7 and 8, 2000
Election Day Of course,as everybody knows, November 7th was THE day to vote for a new president and other running positions for local government officials. It was just last month Evan and I registered to vote here at the school and was lucky enough to have the convenience to vote just across the street at a local church. Once we voted, we waited anxiously to see who the new president would be. So we waited and waited and waited and waited, until we fell asleep. We missed the first announcement of the new president-elect going to Vice President Al Gore and didn't know until the next morning. However we were watching when there was an announcement around I am that Governor George W. Bush was declared president. Austin went in to full excitement in the cold rain. Then as Gore's votes were closing in on Bush's in Florida, it was a turnover. Neither elects are president. So the excitement was switched over to the campaigners in Nashville, TN, where it was just quiet as a mouse hours before. AND still, there is the undecided president elect. This is by far the most interesting and closest race ever! For my first time to vote, this has been exciting. I got the feeling that my vote was important. It wasn't just some vote over looked. So if you thing your vote isn't important... it is. Always vote!
However, after 5 weeks, and lots of counted, and recounted, and recounted, pregnant and hanging chads, and lawsuit, after lawsuit, after - well, we all know what happened, G. W. Bush finally became president. Wee Haw.
